SDTTL Junior Assesment Trials

Date: 20th September 2010

Just wanted to say well done to all of those that competed in the Essex County Assessment Trials this weekend... there was some brilliant matches played and it was a pleasure for us to be part of it, we are so proud of all of you.  To see you all out there working so hard, battling away and playing so well was superb.  Thank you also to the very supportive parents that came along for one or both days.  Hope you enjoyed it, I'm sure you share our sentiments having watched them trying so hard, they are a credit to you!

A special mention must go to James and Aaron as it was their first tournament.. great performances lads... we know how much you enjoyed it.. Aaron played on the Saturday (u18's) and James played on both Saturday (u18'2) and Sunday (u15's)... so an admirable amount of table tennis James, for your first tournament and you still left smiling!!  And to Shannon who played some of the best table tennis we've seen her play..

It was a completely exhausting weekend with players playing in a round robin of 6 players per event and then falling into a second 6 player round robin depending on the position they finished in their group, so an absolute minimum of 30 sets of table tennis was played per person (and that was if they won or lost 3 straight)!.. per event!  So it was a physically draining weekend for the players.

The standard of play at the tournament for a County Assessment trials was high, so you all did very well against players that play a great deal of hours per week, with some playing 30 hours a week and it being part of their school curriculum and their before and after school clubs!  So well done...

It usually takes a couple of weeks for Arthur to colate the data and finalise the ranking positions and send them out.  As soon as I receive them I will forward them on to you.

We hope that you enjoyed the weekend and not too worn out today... look forward to seeing some of you on Friday...

Regards,
Mel and Andy
